Unemployment and lay-off situations

We insure our members* in the Akava-based Unemployment Insurance Fund for the Highly Educated KOKO (formerly the IAET Fund), which pays earnings-related daily allowance to those who are unemployed, laid off and those in voluntary or labour market training, job alternation compensation and a mobility assistance. The membership fee of the unemployment insurance fund is included in ASIA's membership fee.

You can access the pages of the KOKO unemployment fund here

For members of the Maritime Pilots' Association and Finavian Tekniset FT ry, the unemployment insurance fund is the AARIA fund (formerly JATTK).

You can access the Aaria fund website here

The unemployment insurance fund serves in its statutory duties. ASIA also helps its members to assess the situation in advance and advises on how to act in different situations. For unemployment security issues, contact our employment counselling.

Students and entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs and self-employed workers have different unemployment benefits. If you own or your family owns part of the business you work for, you may be defined as an entrepreneur. Ask the Yrittäjäkassa for more information on the definition of an entrepreneur www.yrittajakassa.fi

Student unemployment benefits can be found on the TE Services page

*Not all ASIA members are members of the unemployment fund. For example, some members who work temporarily abroad do not belong to the fund of their own free will. Abeyance and senior membership does not include unemployment fund membership. You can check if you belong to the unemployment fund at the e-transaction site of the KOKO unemployment fund. For members of the Maritime Pilots' Association and Finavian Tekniset FT ry, the unemployment insurance fund is the AARIA unemployment insurance fund (formerly JATTK), whose membership can be checked here.
